Art Gallery Frames FAQ

What size frame do I order?

The frames are sized by the interior dimensions. If you have a painting that is 20"x30" then you would order a 20"x30" frame. To get the outer dimensions of a frame take the width of the frame x2 and add to each side. A 20"x30" frame with a 5" frame width would be 30"x40" in outer dimensions.

Do you include hanging hardware with each frame?

Our frames are shipped without hanging hardware. The majority of our clients are professional artists who are particular about this and accustomed to installing flaps, offsets, clips and wiring the frame. Often artists will reuse the frame for other artwork so the hardware will vary by application. If you are not a professional, your local frame shop or art and craft store will have these items.

What is the rabbet or depth of the frame so I know if my stretcher bars will fit?

The rabbet refers to the recess on the back of the inside edge of the frame which the artwork fits. The depth for most frames is 1/4" which is the size of most standard stretcher bars. Older paintings may be stretched on non-standard size stretcher bars. Different sized offsets can compensate for variations in size.

How long will my Frame take to ship?

If a frame is in stock it will ship within a few days of your order. If the frame is out of stock and not expected in a reasonable amount of time we will notifiy you and you may backorder the item if you wish or select another frame. Smaller frames will ship via FedEx ground and larger frames ship via freight truck and can take a few days longer based on your location.
